With a bit of time off this Christmas and having binged most of The Muppets movies this month I feel inspired to design a unique creature based on two of my biggest passions; puppets and horror movies! So we're doing the Norris head from John Carpenter's 'The Thing' fused with Kermit the frog. I fancied creating some cable controlled tentacles mechanisms, so I thought a monster puppet would be a great excuse, while also making it 'Muppet based' allowed me to just use materials I had on hand.
Using Zbrush I mocked up a 3D model of some weird Cronenberg-esque hybrid of the Norris spider-head and Kermit that served as a basis for the puppet's construction.
This was perhaps better in idea than execution but a fun little project over the Christmas break. It does have a purpose, so I'll be updating this page again shortly!
